  • 53% of CISO's predicted their organisations will have a data breach involving over 10,000 records
  • Facebook and Google had faced lawsuits for allegedly not being GDPR compliant
  • According to an EU General Data Protection Regulation fine tracker from Privacy Affairs, Luxembourg's proposed 746.1 million euro fine against Amazon by itself makes the National Commission for Data Protection the top fine levier in front of Italy and France
  • Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, fined food delivery application Foodinho 2.6 million euros for violations of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The DPA found the app violated GDPR principles around transparency and lawfulness of processing and cited illegal algorithmic discrimination against certain employees
  • The Netherlands' DPA, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, fined the Employee Insurance Agency 450,000 euros for insufficient safeguards for the agency's messaging platform. The AP found the lack of measures from August 2016 to late 2018 resulted in nine separate privacy breaches involving more than 15,000 people.
  • The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office issued a 25,000 GBP fine to U.K.-based charity Mermaids for an email-related data breach. The charity filed a breach report in June 2019 following revelations of an email hack that occurred two years earlier without the charity's knowledge.

Which IAPP certification is right for you?
