In today's economy, balancing corporate growth with environmental stewardship is no longer optional. For the information technology sector, this presents a unique challenge: how to deliver critical skills training without contributing to a significant carbon footprint. The historical model of IT training, with its heavy reliance on international travel and physical materials, has become increasingly misaligned with modern sustainability goals.
At Readynez, we see this challenge as an opportunity. We have embarked on a mission to redefine what it means to be a responsible training provider. This journey led us to formally adopt the ISO-14001 Environmental Management System in 2022, cementing a strategic pivot toward embedding sustainable practices across all our operations. Our commitment is detailed in the 2024 Sustainability Report, which chronicles our efforts to empower IT professionals while lightening our impact on the planet.
The global shift precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic served as a catalyst, enabling us to accelerate our transition to more sustainable training models. By embracing virtual platforms, we have been able to innovate and lead, proving that exceptional training and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand.
Our environmental policy is not a single initiative, but a multi-faceted approach to reducing emissions and waste throughout our business.
A primary driver of our success has been the deliberate and strategic enforcement of virtual training. This shift has resulted in an incredible 99% reduction in scheduled onsite courses, which directly cuts down on the carbon emissions associated with travel. Complementing this, we have moved entirely from physical books to digital courseware, which has eliminated the environmental cost of producing and shipping heavy training materials.
Where in-person training remains essential, particularly for enterprise projects, Readynez employs an innovative model focused on our local training centres. This strategy dramatically curtails travel distances for delegates. By partnering with centralized and sustainable event venues, we further reduce transportation emissions and minimize the need for overnight hotel accommodations.
Our initiatives have already yielded substantial and measurable results in reducing our CO2 footprint. The move to virtual-first delivery has been the most significant factor. We have recorded a remarkable 90% reduction in emissions from instructor flights and have seen a 93% drop in the number of hotel nights required by both delegates and instructors. These figures demonstrate a clear and positive impact.
Beyond training delivery, Readynez has implemented proactive measures to shrink our broader organizational footprint. Our commitment to holistic sustainability involves stringent supplier assessments, promoting remote work, championing virtual meetings, and employing digital best practices. We are also dedicated to the continuous improvement of our CO2 emission calculation methodologies to ensure we have the most accurate possible view of our environmental impact.
Looking ahead, Readynez is dedicated to strengthening our sustainability efforts. Our future focus includes enhancing digital best practices by optimizing hosting locations, refining supplier evaluations, and improving office sustainability. A key priority will be the ongoing refinement of our methods for measuring CO2 emissions, ensuring our progress is always tracked with precision.
