A group of people discussing exciting IT topics

For modern organizations across the United States, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria have become a central pillar of corporate strategy. The environmental impact of every business function, including professional development and employee training, is now under careful review. Historically, the IT training sector carried a heavy carbon footprint, driven by extensive travel and reliance on physical materials, creating a conflict with corporate sustainability goals.

Recognizing this disconnect, Readynez has embarked on a strategic transformation of its training model. We are proud to share the results of this initiative in our 2024 Sustainability Report. This document charts our progress in delivering world-class IT education while drastically cutting our environmental footprint, showcasing a path forward for the entire industry.

A Foundation of Environmental Accountability

Our commitment to sustainability is not merely a reaction but a core business strategy. This was formalized in 2022 with the adoption of the ISO-14001 Environmental Management System, which provides a framework for integrating eco-conscious practices across all operations. While the global shift accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic created an opportunity, our move toward sustainability was a deliberate and strategic decision to redefine environmental responsibility in tech education.

We believe in complete transparency, even as we acknowledge the challenges in quantifying every single aspect of our environmental impact. Our policy is built on a wide-ranging set of initiatives designed to minimize carbon emissions from every facet of our business.

Redefining the IT Training Delivery Model

The cornerstone of our strategy is a fundamental shift in how training is delivered. By challenging the traditional, travel-heavy model, we have achieved significant environmental gains.

One of our most impactful policies has been the strategic enforcement of virtual training. This led to an incredible 99% reduction in scheduled onsite courses, which in turn nearly eliminated the carbon emissions associated with delegate and instructor travel. Complementing this, we have fully transitioned to digital courseware, cutting out the emissions linked to the production, printing, and shipping of physical books.

For the limited instances where physical classroom training is necessary, such as for enterprise project teams, our approach has been innovating. We focus on utilizing our local centers to minimize travel distances for delegates. By partnering with centralized and sustainable event venues, we further reduce transportation emissions and lessen the need for hotel accommodations.

Quantifiable Reductions in Our Carbon Footprint

The success of our sustainability initiatives is clearly reflected in the data. The move to a virtual-first model has dramatically shrunk our CO2 footprint. Our report highlights several key achievements:

  • A 90% reduction in emissions from instructor flights.
  • A 93% decrease in the total number of hotel nights required for both delegates and instructors.

Beyond the classroom, we have implemented rigorous measures to shrink our organizational footprint, including comprehensive supplier assessments, promoting remote work, and championing digital best practices and virtual meetings. We are also dedicated to the continuous improvement of our CO2 calculation methods to ensure we have the most accurate picture of our environmental impact.

Our Path Forward: Future Sustainability Goals

Readynez is fully committed to building on this momentum. Looking ahead, our focus will remain on refining our digital best practices, from optimizing hosting locations to enhancing supplier evaluations and office procedures. A key priority will be the continued improvement of our measurement methodologies for CO2 emissions, ensuring we can track and manage our impact with ever-greater precision.
