Are You Set Up for a Remote Microsoft Exam?

The great news is that almost all role-based and fundamentals Microsoft exams are available to take online. There are only a couple of exceptions to be aware of:

• Microsoft Office Specialist
• MTA exams

Before you go further, confirm you have administrator rights on your computer, as you will need to install specific testing software. It is also important to note that all support and proctoring communication, including from the initial 'greeter' and the exam proctor, is currently only offered in English.

Your Essential Pre-Exam Preparation Checklist

To ensure your exam day is free from technical hiccups, it’s vital to complete these preparatory steps in advance:

1. Run the required system test. This is a crucial step. You must complete the system test on the exact computer and from the same location where you plan to take the exam.
2. Check your personal identification. Your ID must be compliant with the testing provider's policy. Critically, the name on your official ID must perfectly match the name listed in your Microsoft certification profile. You can read the detailed ID requirements online.
3. Review all testing protocols. Familiarise yourself with the technical, system, and environmental rules you'll need to follow on the day.

How to Schedule Your Exam with Your Readynez Voucher

Your Microsoft exam is pre-paid as part of your Readynez course. You will receive an email from operations@readynez.com containing your unique exam voucher code. Be sure to watch for this email during your training week.

To book your slot, head to the Microsoft exam list, find the specific exam you need to take, and click the "Schedule exam" button. During this registration process, you will be given the option to take the exam with an online proctor. Your voucher code will be used as payment to complete the booking.

The Day of the Exam: From Check-in to Starting

The entire launch and check-in procedure typically takes around 15 minutes. It’s important to begin this process within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, as you will not be permitted to start after this window has passed.

To begin:

• First, ensure any pop-up blockers on your web browser are turned off.
• Sign in to your benefits and exam dashboard on the Microsoft Learning site.
• In the "Appointments" section, find your exam and select the link to begin.

You will be guided to download the testing software and then connect with a "greeter," which may take a few minutes. The greeter will verify your identity using your passport or driving licence, explain the testing rules, and ask you to shut down any unauthorised applications. Once this is complete, your exam will start. A proctor will monitor you remotely but will not interact unless a technical issue arises, first via chat and then by phone if needed.
