Achieving a Microsoft Partner competency in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is a significant milestone that signals deep expertise and unlocks new business opportunities. For UK organisations, this distinction can be a powerful differentiator in a competitive market. This guide outlines the strategic path to attaining both Silver and Gold competencies, helping you plan your team's development and meet the necessary performance benchmarks.
Navigating this journey requires a trusted training partner. Readynez is a globally recognised expert, having been awarded Microsoft Learning Partner of the Year five times—a unique achievement. We were also named a finalist for the Global Learning Partner of the Year award in 2017, giving you confidence that your team's training is in the most capable hands.
Microsoft evaluates partners based on two primary categories: commercial performance and technical skill. To secure a competency, your organisation must meet thresholds for cloud revenue and have a certified team of professionals. A key administrative point is customer association; since 29th March 2019, all new customers must be linked to your organisation through the incentives claims process to contribute to your revenue targets.
Silver status is the first formal recognition of your organisation's capabilities with Dynamics 365.
To qualify, your company must demonstrate a solid commercial footprint by earning at least US $100,000 in Cloud Revenue from eligible Dynamics 365 products, including Finance, Supply Chain Management, Retail, and others. Within this, a minimum of US $50,000 must come from specific plans like the Enterprise or Unified Operations Plan.
A team of at least five individuals must complete a specific certification track. Each of these five people must pass:
Furthermore, from that same group of five certified individuals, at least two must also pass the technical exam:
Gold competency signifies the highest level of expertise and a deep, consistent commitment to the Microsoft ecosystem. The requirements for this tier are substantially higher.
The revenue benchmarks are significantly increased for Gold status. Your organisation must have earned a minimum of US $300,000 in Cloud Revenue from the relevant Dynamics 365 services. Of that total, at least US $150,000 in revenue must be derived from the core Enterprise or Unified Operations plans.
To achieve Gold, your organisation needs to demonstrate a much larger pool of expert talent. The requirement scales up to fifteen individuals who must be certified.
Each of these fifteen people must pass:
From that group of fifteen, a total of five individuals must go on to pass the technical exam:
A note on exam updates: Be aware that retired exams, specifically MB6-895 and MB6-896, remained valid for competency calculations until 31st August 2020. Always verify the latest requirements on the Microsoft Partner Network.
Achieving these competencies is a structured process of team development and business growth. Whether you are starting the journey towards Silver or aiming for the distinction of Gold, a clear training plan is essential. Explore our Dynamics 365 training options below to get started.
